Transcoder broken after latest pre-release (2025.10.16.1441)

Everything was working fine, however over the second half of today (10/18/25), all I see is a spinning wheel when trying to playback live or recorded TV on the Channels app when accessing remotely. Local viewing works on the app and the web player. Remote viewing works on the web player. Whenever remote playback is initiated, the server shows a connection to the device but no video is displayed.

I've restarted the ONT, the router, network switch, and server (Mac mini M2, version 2025.10.16.1441). Any ideas?

Edit: I'm on Version Tahoe 26.0.1 (25A362)

Try updating the DVR to the latest prerelease version

Updated to latest - same problem. The problem is the transcoder. I switched all playback (Home / Internet / Cellular) to Original quality and the playback starts almost instantly.

Is ā€œ Use HEVC for transcodingā€ checked under settings > advanced > Experimental ?

I would assume the M2 should handle HEVC so it might not be the issue but try it disable to test if you have it enabled.

I have had the HEVC encoding checked for years. I tried disabling, same result.

Same issue for me:

are you rather sure the problem is only on macos? I have mine on debian/x64 and had an issue today trying to watch tv remotely. maybe mine is an unrelated problem, but the timing is close.

Updated and is now fixed. Thank you!

I tested locally on ATV and over cellular on iPhone by changing quality to 8 Mb/s on both.

Your issue is unrelated. Your problem is an ATSC3 decoding issue — we don't currently have a solution for it.
