Again I’ve done the wrong thing. Again your telling me black is white.
The Apple TV triggers Channels DVR running and maxing ffmpeg on the NAS, I don’t know if that’s transcoding, but it happens and causes playback problems for many files. Maybe ffmpeg is doing something else. Press play on a problem file in channels, ffmpeg goes to max. Press stop, ffmpeg stops. Press play, etc. Whatever it is, it sucks.
As per the original posts, it happens on all devices, apps or browser, iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. As per the original post it’s not just HDR files.
Yes, I only played a problem video for a few seconds before sending the diagnostics. You didn’t ask for anything specific. Most videos play instantly. The problem videos show a spinner for up to a few minutes, it might play for 20-30 seconds then it stops playing and the cursor spins again.
As for providing the IP address. Channels doesn’t report IPv6, just IPv4. I checked my devices with Channels installed, and they don’t match that address. I then checked my router, and no device is registered with that address. I pinged the address and got nothing back. That address does match my local range, but isn’t in use. I then also checked my router and firewall to make sure it wasn’t open to outside traffic - it’s all closed and has been locked down tight for many months now. Then I tested that just to make sure.
I lost two hours yesterday chasing this down before I posted. I’ve lost hours today chasing your ghosts.
I didn’t file a bug, I asked for help.
