Trouble with Xfinity

Looking for some advice.

My parents have Xfinity X1, and got a cable card to use an HDHR prime. Went to comcast today and they had a heck of a time adding the cable card and forced a box for the main outlet, and added a second outlet for the CC. I would assume there is a way to have it be the main so I don’t need a box. Any help or advice would be great. We wasted 4 hours at two stores today and they weren’t super helpful.

Thanks in advance

I would suggest that after the Prime w/cablecard is verified working for a day ot two, bring that X1 box back to the Comcast store and make sure to get a receipt showing it was returned.

What did they charge for the CC ?

Not in my area. Guess the only way to be certain is to try returning the box.
I've not found much help by chatting or calling, I just show up at the store.
I have X1 Preferred Triple Play and returned the box to the store. I just have two cablecard devices.

I have 2 CC and 1 Settop Box they gave me a $5.00 dollar credit for owning the Primes and charged me $3.00 for the 2 CC... So they paid me $2.00 for getting the CC's.

They said it gave them an error and the only way to get out from the error is to have their non Dvr set top box. I just don’t have any use for the STB, and it also costs extra because the cable card is $10 as an additional outlet.

Customer Owned Equipment Policy

See the pdf from the link on that page (I would print it and carry into the store with their set-top box)
Read the full Customer Owned Equipment Policy.

CUSTOMER OWNED VIDEO EQUIPMENT POLICY

Comcast offers a variety of video service packages. Many of these packages include
leased video equipment. However, you are not required to use Comcast leased equipment with
your video services. Instead, you may choose to use Qualifying Equipment (defined below) that
you own.

Geez I guess depends where you live mine Cost me nothing.

This is my XFINITY notice Credit ....

Comcast provides a credit to customers who have an activated CableCARD installed in a customer-owned device (e.g., TiVo or CableCARD-equipped television) or customers that own a qualifying converter (See Customer Owned Equipment Policy) if the customer subscribes to a Comcast video service that includes equipment as a part of the service. Customers who qualify will receive a monthly credit of $2.50 for each qualifying activated CableCard device or converter.

I have been utilizing a cable card for years with Comcast. Your best bet is to contact customer service and ask for a technician that can assist with installing a cable card for TiVo. You do not require a set top box to use a cable card. More often than not, the service rep isn’t familiar with the cable cards and don’t know how to set them up.

Xfinity has a customer service number specifically for CC installation. Be sure and call that number. Don't have it handy but just Google for it.

Thanks for all the help. I tweeted at them and got the best rep who took the box off and made the card the primary, and then gave me the CC hotline and they got it working. Dvr set up is commencing. Thanks again!
