Tuner discovery on Debian 8?

I have a fresh install of Debian 8 minimal server. DVR installed fine. My HDHomerun is not getting auto discovered. If I put in the ip address it will find it, but auto doesn’t work. Any suggestions?

Not sure why that would be… the discovery uses UDP and maybe packets are getting dropped or filtered (firewall?)

Is it a VM? Did you use bridge networking?

No it’s not VM. It’s a regular install of Debian Jessie. The computer is connected via Ethernet. Could default firewall settings on Jessie block those?

Looks like your networking is not configured

What does that mean? I can access the internet fine and my internal network is working. From my phone I can access my local server

Your Debian machine is not able to connect to the internet. I’m not quite sure what’s wrong but I would check the IP address, route and nameserver.

Did you configure networking manually or are you using dhcp?

That doesn’t make any sense to me. Apt-get works fine to download packages. Curl works, I installed the DVR… it is using DHCP. 192.168.1.1:53 is my router. Does that mean that port isn’t open on my router? It’s a Unifi security gateway. I’ll keep looking. Thanks.

53 is used for DNS. Either that port or UDP traffic is being filtered. If its UDP that would explain why both dns and discovery are failing.

Thank you for the help. Opened up the port, everything works great!
