TV Everywhere - YouTube TV Unable to Log in - Error

Since NBC stopped working - it was causing other issues on my Channels DVR. I had to delete the source and attempted to re add it. The problem is now, I get the error "Cable Provider Authentication Failed" with an unusable screenshot of the NBC app saying sign in to continue to NBC app. OK - I get that NBC doesn't work anymore, but it's now blocking me from accessing ANY TV Everywhere sources as it fails the log in entirely.

please help me get past this. TVE is the only access my 97 year-old mother has to TV.

Not sure what server you are running. Have you made sure chrome is up to date? When you are trying to add your source back to Channels. Are you accessing it with the secure link https://IP of your server.
Go to Troubleshooting on the DVR page and see if there is a chrome update their.

Chrome is up to date. Channels Server running on a 2022 MacMini is up to date also.

I am accessing it at this ip address (Local host) http://127.0.0.1:8089/admin/settings using the "Add Source" section of Channels configuration. I put in YouTubeTV and my username and password. That's always worked before. Now I get the error I originally described saying I have to log into the NBC App and fill out a captcha... which by the way is basically a screenshot - NO ability to attempt to fill in the characters displayed in the captcha.

Here is a screenshot of my channels server config page. I've been using this flawlessly since Nov. 2022

Also, of note, I am unable to connect to localhost via https. Trying to do so only has chrome complain that it is a non secure site.

Has there been a new YTTV user that has successfully logged into YTTV,
or an existing YTTV user that has had to delete and re-add the YTTV source since NBC put DRM on their channels about a month ago ???
It seems that the proper process involved signing into the nbc.com.live app etc etc.
Thanks for any replies.

Yes, if I understand the question. I’m a fairly new Channels user, and about a week to ten days ago, I successfully set up TV Everywhere with my YouTube TV credentials. But mid to late last week, I moved my install to a new machine, and TVE stopped working as a source, so I removed it and have been trying unsuccessfully to re-add it ever since, getting the same error others are reporting.

But . . . my initial successful setup was right around the time of NBC’s change, so I was either just before or just after that.

I’m having the exact same issue as you and it started around the same time. Very curious. I also tried deleting the YouTube TV source and was never able to re-add it. I ended up doing a Channels restore to a time prior to deleting the source and that at least got me back to where I was. However, I still can’t tune, ABC or CBS and also get the authentication error. Very frustrating to say the least…

Yes the complaining of a non secure site is normal and you should continue with that.

Something doesn’t make sense. Why would I only get the captcha page when Channels tries to log in and authenticate, yet if I use the same Chrome browser with or without Incognito enabled, it never presents a captcha page. Any thoughts on how we move forward as I’m going on a week with several missing channels…

That was one of the reason I went away from Youtube. With all the security restrictions they added it just made it hard to get working.

I’m seeing this exact thing. I’ve had YTTV/Channels working for almost a year and yesterday it started getting captchas ONLY when Channels tries to connect via headless chrome. I can connect manually to TNT, TBS, NBC, etc. etc. etc. via Chrome (incognito or not — it doesn’t matter) and never get a captcha. There’s no 2FA (and never has been) on the account, I’m on the latest DVR pre-release, and Chrome is up to date. Nothing via YTTV works now. I appreciate that keeping TVE working is basically like playing whack-a-mole for the devs, but the primary reason I pay for the DVR service is because it consolidates OTA, TVE, and Pluto in one place (and YTTV’s interface is hot garbage).

I know, it’s very disappointing, especially since it’s been working flawlessly for me for almost a year with YTTV. I’ve temporarily signed up for Philo until there is hopefully a fix for this captcha issue. I’m hoping that the Channels devs are working on a fix for this issue as I would think there would be a way to build some sort of way for a user to input the captcha phrase when it pops up…

I stopped using YTTV with channels due to all the security stuff
I wasn't willing to pay $7299 for tech issues plus most of the TVE stuff i was watching is on Philo.
When i had it working, i had it use mostly Philo for TVE.

I lost all access to YTTV thru Channels because NBC wont authenticate anymore.

Same here. Unable to add any channels from YTTV.

if you don't need all the YTTV junk, just go get Philo and call it good
TVE works every time.

So far nothing has worked. Multiple guest accounts, password changes all fail. But I know my YTTV credentials are good because I can log into all of the network sites directly and they authenticate back to YTTV.
