How many streams of TVE can one watch? In example, if I'm watching HGTV on TVE at home and I have it installed at my lake house, can someone else watch HGTV at the same time or other channels?
As many as your network can handle. I've had 6–8 going concurrently.
TVE channels automatically practice tuner sharing, so only a single stream of a channel will be pulled from the network's website, even if you have 2 or more clients watching the same channel, only a single instance will be pulled by the DVR.

What if you start doing trick play like pause, RW, FFWD, etc. on one of the clients tuned into the TVE channel?
It won't affect the other clients or recording-in-progress. The live buffer (to facilitate "trick-play", or more properly, timeshifting) is local on the client.
You may run into problems when two separate clients are trying to watch the same recording: the playback location is maintained on the server, not the client, so you may get some weird results in that situation.
