I hope I’m doing this right. Last night all my local tv everywhere channels went missing from my guide. I had abc and cbs. Today I went to my server to make sure the feature was selected and it was. I unchecked it and when I went to check it again it’s saying “your browser failed to find your geolocation” I’ve updated my Mac mini, updated to the largest pre-release, still can’t get it to find me. It was fine Saturday, I had the channels and they was working. Is there so way I can manually input my location or someway to fix this issue? I hadn’t messed w anything or any settings so I’m not sure what happened.
EDIT: I have now got the box ticked back, and the channels back. I put my Mac mini on my 2nd wifi network and it finally allowed me to check the box. My next question is, I use to have my Kingsport TN local ABC and CBS channel and now I have my current location here in FL, is there anyway to get my TN channels back? I have all the locals for FL through my antenna and I enjoyed having my TN channels, I’ve been in FL since June 2024 and I’ve had that TN channel up to now.
Your Channels DVR Server reports its geolocation to the Local TVE Network websites, so wherever that reported geolocation is determines what local stations you get.
It's possible to pickup certain out of area markets (mainly major markets Chicago, Denver, Phoenix, New York, LA, SF, Dallas, Atlanta, DC, etc), but not easy to setup and manage. if you don't like working with VPNs and likely a second channels server and connecting custom channels through M3Us, best to get acclimated to your new market.
Ok ya no I don’t have the know how to do all that. It’s just odd, I’ve had my TN local tv everywhere channels here in FL since last June then out of no where they just disappeared Sunday evening. I figured since 2 of my 5 sources are from accounts still located in TN that perhaps I would be able to keep them. Oh well I’ll have to get use to not having them. Thanks for the reply.
That’s for replying back. I figured that was what it would be. Next time I go back home I’ll take my server and do a geolocation there. I assume just rescanning the channels on those sources would cause it to pick up those local channels.
That's my understanding. I actually have the best luck using the Fubo Project behind a VPN to get NBC, CBS and Fox from other markets, but still have to use VPN and second server (I use a Virtual NAS inside of my Synology NAS for that purpose). But like I said, lot's of maintenance makes it a hassle for most.
Ya I wouldn’t even know how to start. I love Channels DVR and stuff but I’m still learning everything it does. And as bad as I’d like to tinker w things I don’t have the know how so short of just turning a VPN on I wouldn’t have a clue how to run one on my server. Lol. And I really don’t have time to be maintaining things for it. I just like to know what’s happing locally back home and I think there’s an app I can download for my local CBS back home and that’s all I really was attempting to get back so I’ll just try that. Thanks for getting back to me!
It sounds like you have a second home in TN? If so, setup a Channels server there for receiving the TN locals, and make a remote (away from home) connection to it from your FL client when you want to watch those channels.
Well I live fulltime in FL now but up until this past Sunday Ive had the TN locals on tv everywhere and had my FL locals from my antenna which allowed me to keep up w everything in TN. I do plan to go visit my brother here soon and get some items I had to leave behind so I could set up a server at his house and do the remote thing like you suggested. I’ll check into that and see about it. Thanks for the idea and the reply.
