TVE Locals do not show up on most clients

In the experimental section, I checked to use the networks from TVE. It pulled in guide data and works fine on the PC interface to view them (except Fox). But these channels 6000,1,3 do not show up in the guide on the FStick or Shield clients under ALL, or any other place. Fox 6002 does show up but I get a 400 bad request error. Fox does not work on the PC client either so it may be available at all. I tested on clients from my pi server and my shield server. Note that inside the client, on the Settings->Manage Sources->YouTube TV source, they do show up and I have even selected them as favorites. But they do not show up in the guide.

The clients merge duplicate channels. Are you getting these channels through any other source, such as an HDHR?

Ah yes. I do use a HDHR. I didn't know they combined the channels. I will try to figure a way to remove the channel from the HDHR. I am just testing if I can get a more consistent signal via TVE

It uses your favorites and source order to determine which version of the merged channel to display. If you’re wanting to see the TVE versions in the guide go into the client settings and move the TVE source up to the first priority. Your favorites also come into play so be sure you have favorited all the relevant channels in the TVE source as well.

Is there any way to not get them to merge the locals? It seems to be doing it to me on a couple of stations. [edit: I guess I’ll try putting the local tve in favorites and see if that works]

I kinda like having both options for the same channel. One to save on download traffic and one for more reliable recordings. And sometimes it’s nice if the antenna is crappy for some reason on certain days.

I have a hdhr cbs and on 4.1 and the tve cbs on 6003. Same situation for Fox and ABC.

I could have sworn I had both an antenna/hdhr and tve versions of NBC and PBS yesterday but now it seems like I have to use one or the other with adjusting the tuner priority.

No. Client duplicate channel merging cannot be disabled, I don’t believe.

If one channel is a favorite on two sources will the source priority take over? Or do you recommend not making favorites over multiple sources? Thanks in advance.

Correct, because they will be merged. I recommend favoriting the channel on the source with lower priority. That way if you select from the Guide, you get the higher priority non-favorite version, but from the On Now (or Favorites view of the Guide or Quick Guide) you can ensure you get the lower priority source's version.

Remember also:

  1. Favorites/priorities on the clients are only for viewing live content. The Favorites and priority of sources on the server is for recordings; they are separate lists, and not presently kept in sync.
  2. When viewing live in a client, direct access (by entering a channel number) or channel up/down (if Channel Surfing is set to all) will allow you to tune the channels that don't show up in the guide because they were merged.

Thanks!

Replying on this thread as I may be having similar issues in managing my channel sources and trying to get local channels to show up in my client guides.
Context: I had favorited my local broadcast channels (ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS) from Locast with Locast closing up shop

  1. I removed Locast as a source
  2. I enabled Local Networks via TV Everywhere

Now what I am seeing is my ABC affiliate and PBS in the guide in the browser but just seeing PBS in the guides in my clients (Shield Pro, Apple TV, and Firestick 4k)

A. From this thread I first attempted to re-add Locast as a source to try and unfavorite the channels to try to unmerge but can't do that
B. I also tried adjusting the Global Client Settings (General -> Stack Duplicates) to see if that changed anything and didn't see any change
C. Since Locast is no longer a source I can't adjust the source priority to remediate that way

Open to suggestions or guidance and if doing a database restore would be the most straightforward fix.

Have you tried Settings > Manage Sources > TVE Source on the clients to see if the ABC channel is there, but disabled on the clients for some reason?

Or perhaps there is another ABC or something with the same guide data, and it is being "merged" or stacked in the client guide?
