TVE Lost All Channels

Feel like this might be it for me with Channels. I've slowly lost TVE channels over the past year and am now down to 58 channels, and i'm noticing those are just the free ones that come with any source i add, even if i don't pay for it.

We have two paid sources, Spectrum and Direct TV, both with well over 100 channels. Both are just showing the same 58 non-premium channels. I've tried all troubleshooting steps in here and can't get things to authenticate..

I have Directv Stream but also use Directv as a source. Both have over 98 TVE channels.

What error are you getting? What do logs say? What channels are missing? Have you tried scanning individual channels? Try using the webui viewer since that shouldn’t delete the channel-

Try adding a source as Directv Stream vs Directv without deleting your Directv source. You can use either with Channels.

Make sure your server is using the latest Pre-Release version. I use Directv's streaming entertainment package and TVE is working fine for me. My wife and I prefer just using the Directv app most of time. TVE is just not good enough for us.

Most say: notAuthorized: Access to this program is not included in your Spectrum TV subscription. To learn more about adding this program, visit https://www.spectrum.net or call (855) 757-7328.

Pretty sure with spectrum, it has something to do with it not thinking we have those channels in our package, which we do.

Is everyone using their personal email as the username?

Think i may have found out what's going on. I'm getting a weird line in my logs that kind of looks like it's changing my credentials (my spectrum internet at home is not the spectrum account i use for TVE).

The best I can remember when I had Spectrum, you have to be at the IP address that the service is on. They block most channels when away from home.

Well that's probably my issue. Used to get a lot more channels until recently though.

Is the second account you use set up in an "Admin" role with Spectrum?

That was the main reason I dropped Spectrum several years ago. I wanted to be able to take my TV with me if I wanted to watch it on my phone or a tablet. Mind you, this was several years ago and before the Charter/Time Warner Cable merger. Idk if they have changed.

No. the one ending with "charter.net" is my personal internet login it looks like. The credential i need to login with is a family member's spectrum login and is a gmail account. But to me, it almost looks like it's reverting to mine anyways, which makes sense why it's giving me an error that the channels aren't in my package.

If you're comfortable with that family member having an admin role, you could change their role. I've done that with one of my family and the address that shows up for them in that role is the primary user's address.

I'm sorry, can you expand on that. Would i need to add that family member as an admin on my account? Or would i need to be an admin on their account? Their's is the one with the TV package.

If they are the primary user, you would need to be set up as an admin on their account.

Not sure. I've done the admin account and tried every login combination i can. It looks like Spectrum is somehow always going to want to default to my ISP username and not authenticate the correct account. I'll update if I find any other way forward.

I've had that issue with my provider, the answer was to use Tailscale and set my home server as the exit node. That way my phone and tablet can VPN into my home network and view everything as if I was on my lan.

The stupid workaround before that was to record anything I wanted to watch live, because they didn't block recordings on any channel. I could even record it remotely on the fly with their app which defeated the whole purpose of blocking live channels lol.

Should that affect TVE though? I can still authenticate and watch things on my WiFi on their Spectrum TV app. So why would channels revert my username to my ISP one instead?

Have you tried creating a new TVE in Channels to replace the one using the wrong credentials?

Yes. Yeah, I’ve tried just about everything I can think of. Cleared cookies on my server computer, removed the TVE source, restarted the server, tried a ton of password/username combos.
