How often does TVE Scan for new channels ... also does it scan for channels I have disabled ? If it does I would prefer it not scan for disabled channels.
It scans upon adding the source. If authorization expires, it will re-auth on demand. If new TVE channels are added, you need to manually scan to add them to your lineup.
If you edit the source in the DVR web UI, at top there is a button to "Rescan New Channels". Click this button to attempt to add new channels that may have been added to Channels' TVE support to your source.
Ok because all the Channels that are free other than my XFINITY had dropped off the guide. I had to rescan each one ... one by one so... according to you they should have not dropped off ?
Also it should not be scanning channels I have disabled.
Have you checked the logs to see what Channels may have been doing?
Why does it scan channels I have disabled ? All that does it cause login failures .. and I would not be surprised if that is causing PWD resets. I have this Channel disabled yet it scanned for it only to fail. Maybe I just don't get it LOL.
When did it scan? Were other scans done around the same time? What do the logs show?
I just did a Scan to get everything back ... and I noticed it does scan even disabled channels I wish it did not do that as all it does is cause failures .... All Eastern feeds are disabled in my TVE Guide.

So you selected "Rescan All Channels", and you're surprised that it scanned all channels?
For selectively scanning individual channels, the best way is to manually rescan the individual channel. After initially adding a source there shouldn't be a need to use the "Rescan All Channels"; if you need to authorize a newly added channel to your subscription, you can selectively scan them for authorization.
My point is if I have the channels Disabled it should not scan them unless I enable them. In my opinion not scanning channels that are disabled is the best way to do it in order to avoid failures.
OK you can close this thread if you like.
I think the TVE rescanning disabled channels can be the expected behavior, as scanning for channels on HDHomeRun tuners scans all possible frequencies, regardless of whether a channel was previously disabled.
I believe that mirroring this behavior with TVE channels maintains consistency.
While it maintains consistency with the hardware tuner logic, it might also render the TVE feature next to useless for some.
Which is why you can selectively rescan individual channels for TVE sources, a feature unavailable to HDHR tuners.
I also think it might have an Impact on disabling the user .. TVE is different animal from tuners .. There is no reason to scan disabled channels in TVE ... obviously they are disabled for a reason.
