Welp, I managed to crash my Ubuntu server during a routine update. I could have plugged in a monitor and keyboard to see what’s happening but I took the lazy route and rebooted. Mistake.
Anyway, I've touted how Docker/Compose offered an easy recovery route, so I thought I would let everybody know how it went. Short story is, with Channels, it was flawless. I installed the OS, restored my backups, mounted my libraries, ran my compose script and boom: perfect. Mere moments. And I don’t have a simple, standard install either. Everything works.
Have to say, however, that I’m really disappointed in Home Assistant. Despite my many, many backups, it’s going to be a long road unless I have a eureka moment. Possible. I don’t know everything. But as of right now, I’m really disappointed. But this underscores how seamless the Channels process is.
Just thought I’d share.
