Unable to Create Pass or Record for M3U

Hi,

I setup an M3U STRMLNK by entering the text below. The Link seems to be working as I am able to watch live either by selecting the current program in the Guide or by selecting the current program in the ‘On Now’ section. However on both Apple TV and iOS Channels app I am unable to record or create a pass as the selection for either is simply not there. Oddly enough web browser offers the selection for both ‘Record’ and ‘Create Pass’.

Any ideas on what this issue may be?

That creates a link that opens another app. You cannot record links.

Thanks for your quick response and for being part of the development team.

I had thought I understood custom links but after reading your response and doing a little more reading it looks like not all custom links are created equal.

So is it correct to say that custom /M3u links can be recorded but not ones that simply launch another app?

There are Custom M3U sources, Stream Files and Stream Links

They all work differently.

Thanks for your response and the links you provided.

I jumped on board like many others at the end of last year when TiVo Cable Cards began to cease working. I absolutely love the Channels DVR platform and I have my fingers crossed that we will not experience further erosion of TVE. Imagine if every single channel provided TVE.

I find the various help files well thought-out and helpful except for the topic of Custom Channels and its various sub iterations. I consider myself technically capable and had no problem setting up my Channels DVR server on a Raspberry Pi, however when it comes to Custom Channels I find myself struggling to understand what to use when and what the limitations are.
