Unable to delete, Updated my Synology DVR app, now unable to start it

My channels DVR, running on s Synology has been flawless for a couple years. I'm currently migrating my NAS to a newer version and while this migration is happening I noted that I was unable to delete shows through the client (Apple TV). I then tried to delete through the web and that would not work either.

So I thought I would try to restart the Channels DRV app on the sylonogy. I shut it down and tried to restart and it would not. I noted that I was on 1.0.4 and 1.0.5 was available so I updated to that version. That installed okay but again it will not start up went I tell the app to run.

So right now, my DVR service and TV is broken as all activity goes through this.

Prior to this NAS migration I started the original migration which was close to completing but I broken it near the end so I tried again. On the second migration we had storms rolled through that sent power drop outs to out house corrupting the new NAS (which was not on backup power) whereas the original NAS with Channels was on back up power and ran just fine. I am now on my third migration attempt and only this time have I noticed the issue with Channels not deleting.

Ideas?

EDIT: I should add that I tried to pause my migration and restart the old NAS that has Channels on, but Synology will not allow restart while there are "volume operations" (aka, NAS migration) ongoing. Alas my migration will take around 4-5 days.

If you’re on DSM 7 it’s possible that you’re using the newer package that runs as the “channels” user rather than “root”. If so, you’ll need to make sure that user has r/w access to your channels Channels directory, and read access to any imports directories. That’s my first guess of things to check.

This is still on DSM 6 unfortunately.

I fixed it.

This may have been related to the migration state of the NAS. I noted that my migration encountreed an error so I was able to stop that and restart the old NAS. This time ChannelsDVR started with the restart. On opening channels though, it had lost all prior recordings and settings and was treating this as a totally virgin install.

It asked me where to save content so I navigated to the existing ChannelsDVR folder and then it asked if I wanted to do a restore, so I did. At first it was not showing the content, so I refreshed my browser and then it showed up. I went to delete a recording and this time it worked.

So I don’t know what the original issue is, but I appear to have fixed it.
