Understanding Channel Mapping

I am trying to understand how and why this is functioning the way it is then also report and issue.

If you look at channel 693 it is mapping to channel 1251. If I hit the "Hide Channel" icon then 693 no longer shows in the guide but 1251 still does.

Also I cannot record on channel 693 but I can on channel 1251.

Any help clarifying how this works would be great.

Thanks

The mappings are used for guide data only. Nothing else is affected by them. In this case the name of the channel matches so the guide data from 1251 is being used.

Many cable companies have started duplicating channels into the 1000 range. It's actually the same exact feed just being advertised as both 693 and 1251. They both use the same frequency and are actually the same channel.

So I should just hide one of them basically? Any idea which would be better to hide?

It's a matter of preference. They're literally the same thing. I just leave both of them enabled since it doesn't matter. I have the channels I watch the most favorited and use the favorites filter in the app when browsing around. The DVR will also always prefer to record from a favorited channel when multiple options exist.

I will try disabling one and see if it allows me to record. I just know recording was not working on 693 but was when I switched to 1251.

What exactly was not working? What did the Log show about the failure?
