Unplayable recording and incorrect length

I have been testing the DVR Beta since the public beta was released and have had a mostly perfect experience. Thank you!

However, last night a recording started as scheduled. I later noticed when I went to watch it that the length the recording listed on the Apple TV was 24 hrs. The recording was also unplayable. When I check the file on my Mac in Finder the length seems correct, but the file is still unplayable.

Wanted to check if this is a fluke or possible bug.

What channel/show was this on? How long was the recording supposed to be?

Can you play it back using VLC on your mac?

The show was New Girl on FOX (OTA). It should have been 30 minutes. I am unable to get it to playback in VLC. Other shows recorded fine later last night and are playable.

Perhaps there was a bad OTA signal at the time the recording was made?

What’s the file size?

Does VLC show any errors when you try to play it?

Visit http://localhost:8089/dvr/files/13/mediainfo.json (replacing localhost with the ip of your DVR), and post the results.

File size is 1.76 GB. I don’t see an error in VLC.

This happened again last night with the same show on the same channel. Other channels are working fine. I will test with another show on this channel tonight and see what happens.

Use this command to download 30mb sample of that last recording and then send it to [email protected]:

I recorded Big Bang theory tonight and when I went to watch it, on the episode screen it said 173 minutes. When I started watching the commercial markers were wrong like a bunch of 15 second markers and it said 173 minutes. I went out and the. Back in and it had the right markers. The DVD log is clean, it showed that it found 12 markers and was finished before 8. I started at 9:50 the episode played fine.

I know I have see. This in the past and and just pawned it off on my eyes playing tricks on me.

Well, yes, but I will have to try that before looking at the show, because, even the Apple TV shows the right length and visually fixed the commercials once I exited and re entered the episode screen.
I’m sure the file is fine because it hasn’t been touched since the episode was done. I can’t find anything that was actually modified at 9:50

Oh it was fine when you went back in. Sounds like a different bug then, maybe in the tvOS app.
