Please go to Support -> Troubleshooting -> Submit Diagnostic Logs from the web interface of the DVR and let us know when it's been submitted so we can have a better idea of what was going on.

Do you see anything in the Event Log on the computer?
Don't really know which Event Log, not called that anymore, to look at. I did notice in the "General Troubleshooting" that "The Windows Firewall is missing rules for Channels DVR" and thought that was the issue but I added a rule and that went away but I then noticed, "DVR Version is out of date" so I try to update it once again and it supposedly downloads it and tells me to "Refresh Browser" but it still does not update. For grins I giggles, I uploaded the logs again.
PS Everything seems to working great just can't update.

I had no problems getting into Event Viewer but what specific log files do I look at?

Wonder if it would be worth trying installing it over what I already have? Windows 11 but I am not a windows expert any longer but I just might have to start all over again.
You would try to do an update and then look to see if there's anything in any of the Event Logs that give you more detail about why it couldn't start.
You could be fine trying to uninstall and re-install, but the issue is that there could be something about the latest version that is conflicting with your system and won't run. That's what the check before updating is intending to catch.
OK I tried the update and as usual, it downloaded and then said refresh browser but the version level had not changed. I checked the following log files but there were no entries to point to a problem 5 minutes before and 5 minutes after the update was downloaded. System Log, Application Log, Security Log and Setup Log. In addition there were no entries in the Application and Services Logs.
FWIW in Program Data in Channels Server, there is a folder 2026.05.18.1824 with a Date Modified at the time I downloaded the update. I double clicked the file "channels-dvr" Application and it opened up the "Server Information" but it was still showing the 2026.02.09.1530 version.
Please try opening a terminal/cmd window and run:
C:\ProgramData\ChannelsDVR\2026.05.18.1824\channels-dvr.exe -safety-check
and let us know what it says.

sounds awfully similar to what this thread was about, or atleast my experience. once the update went thru I didn't have a problem, but I progressed sequentially.
