Update to macOS Mojave?

I have the Channels DVR running on an old MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) with macOS High Sierra, and with a Hitachi 1TB external USB drive for storage, which so far after a couple of days seems to work fine.

I updated to macOS Mojave that on my work MBP, but not sure if I should do it on the Channels DVR machine yet?

Your 2010 MBP may be too old for Mojave. Check the supported hardware list from Apple.

Mojave updater reports “too old!” when I tried to install it on my mid-2011 Mac Mini that does my Channels DVR.

Thanks, my 2010 MBP is too old too.

  1. Check compatibility
You can upgrade to macOS Mojave from OS X Mountain Lion or later on any of the following Mac models. Your Mac also needs at least 2GB of memory and 12.5GB of available storage space, or up to 18.5GB of storage space when upgrading from OS X Yosemite or earlier.

MacBook introduced in early 2015 or later
MacBook Air introduced in mid 2012 or later
MacBook Pro introduced in mid 2012 or later
Mac mini introduced in late 2012 or later
iMac introduced in late 2012 or later
iMac Pro (all models)
Mac Pro introduced in late 2013, plus mid-2010 or mid-2012 models with a recommended Metal-capable graphics card.

But the question remains: Does the DVR work properly on Mojave for those of us who are eligible to upgrade?

Upgraded my 2012 Mac Mini to Mojave, and Channels DVR is still running along just fine.
