Hi. Is there a way to automatically update metadata (art/description) after a show is broadcast? A lot of shows have generic art prior to broadcast and then get correct art after.
I know I can manually update each show but it would be nice to automate this and I notice updating episode metadata does not work that well after recording. Thanks.
Hi. Just thought I would bump this as I think it would make recordings look a lot better when the latest metadata is updated maybe along with guide updates?
You mean, when the guide updates, update the metadata for every recording, every day? Please God, no!
No. Just the ones that need updating like a brand new show can just be updated once it’s recorded. I’ve noticed when I set a recording for a show by the time it airs, the metadata has updated but the recording still has the old data form the time it was set.

In the DVR log I see it refreshing metadata when it starts a recording.

[DVR] Refreshing metadata for...
[IDX] Generating video index for...
Now if the metadada changed after the recording was made then it's a guide data issue.
But, how does the server know it needs its metadata updated?
Or I guess you mean that every recording rule needs to be re-evaluated for a change in data, instead of just removing expired rules and scheduling new ones upon the daily update?
(Of course, if you have any Custom Channels, then the scanning for rule updates could happen far more frequently than daily ...)
Just an observation for example a few shows have generic artwork that is text on a generic background and then by the time the show airs or soon after the proper artworks gets applied but the recording still has the older version.
I suppose there’s no easy way of implementing it, maybe a refresh of shows recorded in the last 24 hours or something. Especially first run shows or one off specials where art gets applied sooner to the air date or even after it airs.
At the moment I go into DVR settings and refresh the show description manually to get the new art or description.
