When I update the channels on my source, the number of channels on the settings/sources screen didn't update.
Settings/sources screen where? On the Server Ui, or on the client device?
Client devices only sync their sources/channels favorite lists upon first startup of initial install.
Changes you make to the Sources (favorite) does not sync with a client devices.
You can force close the app and re-open it on the client device, this often does sync new or disabled channels.
On Android based clients, there is a Source Sync feature, that will sync Favs/Enabled/Disabled Channels to the client. (Apple clients do not have this feature)
Your posts are very vague and lacking of any information.
It's on the server. I don't think you can scan/rescan a source from a client.
Favorites on the server should sync to clients by default. But that's not the issue I was raising. My initial scan yielded 141 channels. A rescan added 14 channels but 141 remains on that screen.
I’m sure all it needed was for you to refresh the web page.
Channels favorited in the web ui is used primarily for recording. If you have two channels with the same program, the server will record from the favorited channel. Beyond initial app install and loading clients use their own favorites and are maintained for each client. If you want to push favorites to clients you need to read about channel collections.
Which source are you talking about updating?
Channels DVR can have many sources.
HDHR Tuner Sources
TVE Sources
Custom M3U Sources

Tried refreshing several times, still the original number of channels.
Since you refuse to respond to clarify what source you are referring to there is not much this community can help with. I suggest you email support and be specific. Good luck.
Ok, I see where the discrepancy is. The Scan page shows the Total number of channels and the number of Favorites, but doesn't show the number of channels that actually connected. Total - Unavailable= the number on the Server page.
Since you didn't answer the question
I'm going to assume you're talking about a TVE source.
