Upgraded TV to 4K , HD Sound lost

I just replaced my Samsung TV with a new 4K Samsung Neo 90 Model TV and the HD sound will not work. Sometimes if I go to a SD channel where the sound does work and go back then the HD sound will work. that's not a consistent behavior though.

If I unplug and replug the cdmi cable from the Apple TV the sound will work but not consistently.

Very odd and Im stumped.

I have another Samsung TV 4k lower end Model and I noticed about a sec delay before the sound started.

What does “HD Sound” mean? Do you mean you get no sound at all on HD content?

HD channels are the channels exhibiting the problem.

Try using a different hdmi port on the tv. If you have a spare hdmi cable try that as well

I'll check the cable , its 8 years old, pre 4K

The issue was this the Samsung Neo q90 series have a built in sound system and the settings on the Apple TV needed to have the audio changed from Auto detect to Dolby 5:1. Working now
