Upgrading to Channels

Hello, I’m new here, just joined. I was wondering what Channels could do for my “Cord Cutting” set up.

  • I have an HD antenna (a splitter that goes to my 2 tv’s and my HD HomeRun Connect)
  • I have internet only coming into my house, no cable
  • EyeTV running on my iMac, records and exports to iTunes
  • Apple TV’s (older not newer) on each TV. I connect to my computer for program play back
  • I’m running a Plex server, so I have program I recorded that I can watch on my devices via Plex, and my personal DVD’s available.

So would I have access to more channels or cable channels adding this to my system?
I realize I have to purchase a new Apple TV, which I’m going to do eventually anyway, and I already have the Tuner. So what more would this give me?

By purchasing an HDHomeRun, you could plug your HD antenna into it. It will then give you access to 2 tuned tv streams at a time, and provide them over the network. They appear as simple mpeg2 video streams.

You can then use them on multiple different devices depending on software.

Channels provides a client for the new Apple TV and for iOS (iPhones and iPads). Channels is super simple to use and gives you great metadata about what is on as well as my other features. You can learn more about all of this at https://getchannels.com

Ok, I decided to purchase Channels tonight. The set up was easy, the app found my tuner. I can 100% say for live tv viewing, this app (I bought the iOS version) works so much better than the EyeTv live view. I will still use EyeTv for recording, but watching live tv is nice on this app.
