Since we can use the web GUI to play live and recorded TV over the internet, I would love to have the Channels app for IOS and TVOS be able to access tuners and DVR via the internet. I have used AirVideo HD for a few years now to stream my Windows Media Center recordings to my Apple TV or iPhone when I travel. It looks to see if you are on your home network, if not then it connects to the public IP / port via the internet. Regardless of being on your home network or not, the experience is the same. Using a the app vs the web GUI is a more elegant experience, works with a remote and is teachable to my wife.
This is planned. We had a prototype working during Alpha, but it has been disabled until we work out some bugs.

Very excited for this feature! Running into performance problems with emby transcoding on the QNAP.
Can we expect to see this functionality coming this summer? I’ll be in south america in august with a second ATV and was hoping to test that.
