VBox Android TV Gateway for Satellite

We recently moved house and was having no issues getting Freeview with my HomerunHD quad tuner, but now i'm losing HD channels frequently due to a low signal area.

  1. Can i switch to/run in parallel with a VBOX Satellite Freesat gateway with Channels DVR?
  2. Can i just install Channels DVR app on this and it will use the gateway tuner in the same way as my Homerun network Freeview tuner?
  3. Will my Nvidia Shield with Channels DVR in the other room also be able to pick up the VBOX satellite gateway as another network tuner?

I was hoping it would be that simple rather than adding custom channels with m3u playlists ...

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated before i go and shell out on satellite equipment.

If the box allows accessing the streams via m3u, yes, I would expect it to work. I have no direct experience with this so it would be good for others to confirm.

No.

If you are able to add it via the m3u method, yes. All Channels clients should be able to access the streams.

Thanks for your reply, i came to the same realisation that TV Tuner sources can only be HDHomeRun devices - shame they don't do a DVB-S network tuner !

Sat>IP URLs for your network DVB devices are supported.

Did you see the VBox section?

Channels Support - Add Custom Channels with M3U Playlists

Got it thanks! - No chance of getting slick integration for VBOX gateways like HDHomeRun then rather than m3u approach ?

Not that this helps your situation, but I believe they also added the ability to use Tablo tuners as well.
