There's an screen shot of Las Vegas new 4K testing. Does someone have seen this? I get some freeze sometimes. Its only me?
I like the rate pulled out of HDHR - 0b/s, also the ac4 audio codec seems extremely efficient.
Interesting the frame rate is 50fps. This smells like some engineer testing
Considering that it has only now gone live, I concur that this is probably testing, and not production broadcasts.
Grrr - we don't even have a full power ATSC3 channel in NY - one foreign language LPTV , that's it!
LA is similarly lacking.
It is suspicious (scary) that the two largest metropolitan broadcast markets don't yet have native ATSC3 ...
(Santa Barbara is definitely not LA.)
What would the source material even be? None of the pipeline is in place.
Even the Samsung TV+ bit has a "4K" channel, but it's more FauxK than 4K.
I'm just getting impatient waiting on ATSC3!

Yeah, but for PBS-only, and loosely "EOY"
I'm not impressed, given Hartford has the big 4 up for months now.
you realize its the fault of the word trade center, government, and others and not the NYC networks right?
you can look it up but long story short, due to WTC construction delays, FCC delays, spectrum lawsuits, recent spectrum auctions and the fact that the networks were waiting for the WTC to finish their state of the art transmission antennas and equipment that they still cant get due to the past couple of years. then the networks have to start leasing antenna space. etc. etc. etc.
and the fact that there are 3 main antenna transmitters in NYC which networks are scattered on and everyone will have to move to the tallest, the WTC.
compared to this, hartford probably transmits from a telephone pole.
you still wont be impressed when it finally comes here, unless you're excited for Adam Family afternoon block in glorious h.265.
Oh, I know. Durst is a big cause here.
I see dropped output frames on Tivo Stream 4K. My Apple TV 4K is perfect. I have also noted the Tivo Stream 4k doesn't play H265 movie files correctly. They appear at the wrong speed and out of lip sync. Apple TV 4K plays the same file correctly. I moved my two primary TV's to Apple. My other sets are using a Tivo which is fine for ATSC 1.0 TV and TV Everywhere streams. If you find an answer to your problem, please share. Really like the Tivo streams except they do not handle ATSC 3.0 or H.265
Major networks are already producing in 4K. Take as example the CBS network “Seal Team”. It’s available on 4K in Paramount+ and the first six episodes was broadcast OTA in regular HD.
Also, I went to a NFL games here in town a few months ago (Las Vegas Raiders vs Miami Dolphins). All ABC broadcast was in HD but the cameras they use. Just took this pic on the field
