Has anyone tried to set up server using Verizon 5g? It does allow port forwarding. I just wanted to check and see if it works for remote access and maybe get some tips.
Tailscale
It works. Also if using your own router you can set to IP Passthrough but make sure your router is connected to the 2nd nic input on the Verizon router.
Thank you for the info. My cube is the new "ARC" model, and so far I haven't been able to find the passthrough IP in the config utility. The older AXS model has that feature. I think I will try hooking up my router to the 2nd LAN port and shut off the wifi. Maybe that will accomplish the same thing. I also have the T-Mobile 5g at my office. It didn't work at home with my server as you all know, I think.
I have the ARC version router. However, I did hook up my Asus router and it works perfectly. Plex configured itself automatically without any manual port forwarding. I forwarded Channels port 8089 in the Verizon utility[couldn't assess Asus config]. The Asus router simply uses the Verizon public IP. I tried access through VPN on my Firestick and it worked fine. I think the server even connects faster than my Spectrum cable internet. Now I can get rid of it and the 100.00 monthly and go with the Verizon 5g for 35 bucks. BTW, my DL speed on the Verizon 5g is 225-290 mbps so far.
