Vero 4k+ client

Hey all,

I'm coming from the TiVo settop universe.
My HDhomerun is arriving next week and I have Channels DVR setup and ready on a PC.

All I need is a Channels client for my TV.
I have a Vero 4k+ already with a remote. Has anyone configured Channels on one of these boxes before? Thanks, I didn't find anything in the search. I'm also considering just buying a new Chromecast Google TV as well.

That appears to be a Kodi OS box.
Channels dvr is not compatible with that OS.
Does your tv itself have its own smart os, like Android TV?
A Google TV chromecast dongle makes a ok client device, but woudl have very limited pause buffer storage.
Other options for good client devices woudl be TiVo Stream 4K, or a Nvidia Shield.

I use a non-smart plasma display and a 2nd gen chromecast right now, in addition to the Vero 4k+. Getting rid of the TiVo Bolt and getting the TiVo Stream 4k, would kind of feel like dumping a girl for her younger sister... A bit awkward. And I'm leaving TiVo for a reason, so don't really want to support another product from them, as petty as that sounds lol.

I just want something that will be direct as possible for the Channels DVR client experience, as it will be used for nothing else basically. I don't need a huge buffer, as recording is much more important to me than pausing, as I rarely get up during a live show.

Firestick 4K is $30 on most Amazon accounts although it is a targeted deal. 4K21FTV

I'm one of those few people that isn't Amazon Prime and doesn't have anything else Amazon/Alexa. I've been going over threads here and online reviews about the new Chromecast Google TV vs Tivo Stream 4k and its still like 50/50 LOL.
One factor is Tivo has dropped to $39 on Amazon and Walmart and looks like it has 8gb vs 4gb in the Chromecast for onboard storage. I hate it when there is no clear winner in things, but I fear the Tivo affect will hit the Stream 4k and it will never receive a software update and just get abandoned and buggy over time. I actually do like the Tivo remote though, since my main purpose is "TV" viewing.

This is the real issue. Of course, Google has been known to have the same issue of abandoning things down the road. If those are your two devices to choose between, it really is a toss-up. If you want to spend more, go for the Apple TV or Nvidia Shield.
