Version 4.3.3 not connecting

I just opened channels 4.3.3 on my iOS 13.5 iPhone XR and I no longer can connect to my sources over cell and on WiFi only see my hdhomerun. All other devices running iOS 14 & 16 work as always.Did you drop support for version 4 &/or iOS 13.5? I am used to not having all the different channel list that newer versions have but I don’t want to upgrade my iOS.I hope it’s just some glitch on your end and not end of 4.33 (v4)support

I forgot to add that I can authorize the app still and connect to channels server & can access my library but no sources are detected over cellular and only HDHomeRun shows up connected over WiFi.But all other devices work as always and phones running iOS 14 & 16 work Flawlessly also.Something is blocking channels server from allowing sources to connect to sources iOS 13.5 channels 4.3.3 no work

We don’t have a way to release updates for old iOS versions. If it isn’t working, it isn’t anything we changed in the client.

There’s been a very large amount of fixes and improvements since that app release and the only way to get them is with a supported OS.

Is your phone jailbroken?

Yeah it’s jail broken. And it has always worked until within the few days. And to test is your end I spoofed my iOS and installed newer versions for newer iOS and it loads as desired all sources but when you click to play it crashes because on lower iOS than it requires but it’s only to test that the sources load on newer versions.channels server is blocking access to sources on version 4 probably from one of the last pre server releases the past few days changed something.version 5 and 6 work np.

It’s not client end it is server side.channels server (I always get latest pre release)is blocking version 4 clients from accessing sources.you can connect to your server but it won’t allow the client to load the sources.only library is visible. Something changed in one of last weeks server upgrades that now blocks clients below v5 from accessing sources. Please look into it if version 4 support wasn’t dropped as it’s probably a simple fix.Thank you

We don’t do anything to block older versions. But we also don’t provide support for versions that old either.

You have a lot of reasons why this isn’t working. Besides being jailbroken, that Channels version is over 2 years old. Not only can we not provide technical support for it, we’d never ensure the app version still works with the current server version.

We’re a small team and the kind of backwards compatibility you’re describing is something only the Apple Maps team would be responsible for.

If you’re going to use Channels, you need to ensure your software is up to date.

Ok so I get it.Something changed in one of last week’s server updates and thus even though it says supported 4.3.3 it is now outdated so it’s either update iOS or just don’t use it on this device.Thats understandable. This is my only old device and all others and platforms are up to date.I thank you for all you guys work :+1:.If you know what change that was made offhand please pass along so I can go into Filza and modify the line/s to make it work.Jailbreaking isn’t the problem but can be the fix for me and if anyone else still is on iOS 13.Something changed within the last week of beta server upgrades.Would be nice to keep v4 still workable.Possibly a way to get v5 or 6 to work with iOS 13? Would be :+1: Thanks again

I wanted to thank you for whatever you guys did.Version 4 now populates again :+1:
Problem resolved😊
Also thank you for implementing clients getting logos from server not from xmltv file :+1: All my logos are also fixed saving much time not having to update dead logo links in my xml file...

We didn't do anything here, so whatever caused it to break and caused it to be fixed is environmental and not something we have much control over at this point. Again, you're going to get the best experience running the latest version of the apps (that we are continually fixing bugs for) which can only happen when you are running recent versions of the OS.

In the same boat with an iPhone on 13.4.1 - so annoying that nothing loads. For me when I check the TV Guide or Library the whole app just crashes instantly :frowning:

Would be OK if we had a decent web player that worked somewhat close to the app..

Please see the solution post for this thread as it might explain things for you. Your Channels version is out of date and is not supported.

I understand the solution post but it doesn't help me. Ive got an outdated iOS device which sits on 13.4.1 and wont be upgraded. Ive tried spoofing the app version and the iOS version but neither help, despite another device running the app just fine on iOS14..

When I try on my iOS13 device the app opens fine but just crashes out as soon as I select the Search or Library tab.

Is there any jailbreak detection messing things up? I hope you guys haven't baked something like that into the app..

You're using an app that hasn't been updated in years.

Channels is a server/client system. You're using a 2+ year old version of the Channels client with an up to date Channels DVR Server.

No we haven't done anything to block this, your app version is just out of date and not compatible with the latest Channels DVR Server. That's what the solution post says.

I understand but even when spoofing it doesn't work, yet the very same version on another phone works fine (hence why I asked about Jailbreak detection).

Could you tell me what the error code / message means? I find nothing online / via support documentation:

The operation couldn't be completed. (Channels.DiscoveryError error 3.)
