Very long wait time before the client app loads

I have the server running on a Synology (nothing else is running on the NAS, only the DVR software).

When I open the client app on any client (e.g. Apple TV), it sometimes takes up to 2-3 minutes before the guide/recordings etc. show up (during this time, the message on the screen says the server could not be discovered)... - sometimes not at all and I have to restart the client app - thoughts?

Perhaps you NAS has spun down the drives and put them to sleep, and the lag is the time needed to wake the disks up.

I noticed that last time I ran the iOS client (don't use it much).
I just updated it to the latest Beta version (6.29.135) and it connects fast.
