Virtual Channel Sort confusion

I've always been a bit confused on how the sort methods are supposed to work. I've read the linked documentation but my experience does not match the explanations.

Mini Marathon never does 3 episodes for me.

I'm not sure what the utility of Limit is either, my initial thought was that it would be a way to set the length of the marathon streak, so Limit 3 is 3 episode blocks, 5 would be 5 episode blocks, etc. It seems that it just picks 3 episodes and that's it? There is no documentation on Limit.

And how does Custom sort work? I don't see where I can set the custom order for episodes? That would be great for shows that are better in DVD order rather than the Aired order (cough, cough, Firefly)...

You only have 1 TV show applied to the Virtual Channel.

Mini Marathon schedules 3 episodes of each show, and round robins.

With only a single TV Show, Mini Marathon doesn't make any sense, hence the results.

Limit does just that, it limits the items. This is more useful for something like driving a News based Virtual Channel.

And how does Custom sort work

Custom Sort is more for a Movies based Virtual Channel, so you can set which order they play in.

You can do this by adding episodes instead of the show, using a smart rule like title=Firefly
