Audio volume in the latest beta is lower than in the current 1.5.3 general release. I’m not sure if this is intentional or not, but I did notice that when i switch from a different source to watching TV through the beta, I had to turn the volume up quite a bit. I then flipped between the beta app and the release app via multi-tasking and it was pretty clear that the beta is lower.
We made some changes to the audio decoder, so this must be related. I think the new volume is technically more correct… in that it should match the volume levels in other apps on the ATV.
Oh alright. I just played some video from a few more apps (ESPN, HBO GO, NBC Sports and ABC) and it isn’t as large a difference as it originally seemed. Seems just a hair more quiet, but I’d probably have to drag out a decibel meter to measure the difference for sure. Not going to do that!
I noticed this as well when comparing with other apps, Channels output sound is much lower than the rest.
