I have a Mac mini running Mac OS High Sierra and installed the DVR software. Two times I have noticed that the DVR software wouldn’t update even though there was no recording , com skip or other processes. The first time I rebooted the server to update MacOS and it did a version update. The next time I had the 11/01 version and was waiting for the 11/03 until I use launchctl app to stop and reload the dvr software on 11/15.

I didnt see anything in the log that was revealing.

I have a manual work around .

This is the same issue as DVR stopped for upgrade, never restarted (where you already posted as well).

It should be fixed in the next update.

Great on the fix. I didn’t seen any response and thought it might have been an old thread.

I see I didn’t need to creat a duplicate.

There’s a pre-release available with the fix. Hold SHIFT and click Check for Updates on the Settings webpage.

Once you’re on that version, all subsequent updates should happen automatically.

If you could share the log messages from the last time it got stuck waiting to update, that would be helpful. Was the DVR usable?

I sent via email the log and the debug stack.

I clicked shift and Check for updates … version 2017.11.16.0140 started correctly.

I will watch for subsequent updates and note any findings on this thread.

The DVR has always been useable but it wasn’t moving to the latest update except for manual intervention.

Okay perhaps this is a different issue then. If it says “waiting for upgrade” and is still usable, that’s different behavior than the other report where it fails to restart after trying to stop.

ok, I didn’t catch that the DVR was unusable in the other thread.

This was clearly useable … I just never got a update even though there didn’t appear to be anything busy.

I have some questions on your email of requested info that I will reply back.

This is what I was looking for:

2017/11/05 05:09:23 [DVR] Recording engine started in /Volumes/MacIntosh HD 2/DVR

So in fact, the DVR was turned off. But you saw that on 11/5 and turned it back on.

This is the same bug, and should be resolved going forward.

Ok, I vaguely remember now turning the dvr on when I didn’t see anything on my iPhone . At the time, I didn’t know why it turned off and I turned it back on and didn’t see the connection with the upgrade.

I am glad there is a log and you have a fix.
