How do I update the DVR version?

WdMyCloudEx2

I’m looking at the server status webpage and it says it’s pending a software upgrade, but I don’t see a way to trigger the update.

What does Activity on the right say?

Usually the DVR will wait for any recordings to finish before restarting.

Activity
Processing newly recorded files.
Detecting commercials in 2017-01-22-1530 NFL Football Pittsburgh Steelers at New England Patriots.mpg.

Once that’s done it will upgrade itself.

ok, how long does it take to detect commericals for a 3 hour recording on a WdMyCloudEx2 ?

Thanks for the quick replay.

looking at the logs…

greping for ‘commerical detection’

2017/01/21 21:57:38 [DVR] Running commercial detection on file 17 (TV/NFL Football/2017-01-14-1330 NFL Football Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons.mpg)
2017/01/23 12:39:01 [DVR] Commercial detection finished with 56 markers.
2017/01/23 12:39:13 [DVR] Running commercial detection on file 39 (TV/NFL Football/2017-01-22-1530 NFL Football Pittsburgh Steelers at New England Patriots.mpg)

36 hours to detect commercials in 3 hour football game seems a little long.

I recommend you turn off that feature since your NAS is not fast enough for it.

done… will it finish the current program the Steelers/Pats first?

Yea it will wait to finish first. You could reboot your NAS, or ssh in and run “killall comskip”

On the Settings tab of the web UI, what does it say for CPU?

Are there rules in addition to activity that control a server upgrade?

Looking at my server remotely from web ui I see

Version 2017.01.24.0315
Waiting to upgrade to
2017.01.25.0441…

Activity Idle

It has been in this state for about 15 minutes with the next show scheduled to start in about 30 minutes. Anything beyond current activity hold up an upgrade?

Everything that prevents restart should show up in Activity. It’s possible something was overlooked, or there’s a bug in the waiting behavior. It’s supposed to check every five minutes if the server has stopped being busy…

That upgrade was last night, so it’s been waiting for 12+ hours now. Sounds like a bug indeed.

Can you visit http://x.x.x.x:8089/debug/stack, hit file>save and then send the file to [email protected]

Thanks, I’ll send that off tonight when I get home.

I asked the question because I have seen other instances of where the update hasn’t automatically applied and I’ve had to force the update by initiating a restart of the application on the DVR server on my mac mini running 10.12.2. In all cases a restart does the trick and the update applies.

BTW - most of the updates do happen automatically

Hi. Been away since installing the DVR. I have the same / similar problem. I am stuck on 2017.01.14.0019
Waiting to upgrade to 2017.01.18.0555…

I emailed the stack as a web archive, because I didn’t know what other format to use.

What do I need to do to force an upgrade?

What platform are you running on?

On Mac, find the TV icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen and click the Restart option.

Oops. Sorry. Mac Mini 2012 i5. 4GB RAM Mac OS 10.12.1

Getting this in the logs:

2017/01/28 12:58:20 [ERR] Failed to refresh auth: Post https://community.getchannels.com/dvr/api: read tcp 192.168.1.17:53088->104.24.112.77:443: read: operation timed out
2017/01/28 14:58:54 soapRequest returned error: soapRequest error - StatusCode 500 for AddPortMapping()

Can you make sure the computer is able to access the Internet? Verify network settings etc.

Did you see that error after restarting the DVR?

Uh… I don’t see a TV in the menu bar: http://i.imgur.com/kFqNDg6.png
