Want to record 2 copies of same show

There is a show that is shown on two different channels at two different times (but not always the same times) most Saturdays. The problem is that it is often preempted by other programming which is not reflected in the guide. The only way I find out is when I try to watch the recording.

I would like record the same show twice in hopes of getting one real copy, but Channels will only record one copy. I tried restricting my series pass to one of the two channels, and hoped to create a second series pass, but when I selected the other channel from the grid and tried to create a second series pass, it sent me back to the existing one.

Is there a way for me to get what I want?

What about selecting all episodes instead only new ones

I did that, but it still only records the first one.

A second copy of the same episode can be manually selected to be recorded, but passes do not allow for this.

Okay, I'll try that. I can use my automated manual recording system, which will work as long as the program time doesn't shift (which is does from time to time).

I was referring to selecting it from the guide to manually record, not from an external script.

What makes you think there would be any difference between selecting from the guide and my program submitting the same requests to the server that the guide does?

Without knowing what your program does, I can't answer whether there are any differences.

However, in case someone else has the same question as you and finds this thread, they will know that it can be handled by Channels, and your private program won't be necessary. While answers and solutions to individual threads are great for the original poster, they also serve to help other users who may have similar questions/issues.
