Watch from library prompt only working with tv shows but not with movies

I have enabled the watch from library prompt because I have a massive collection of tv shows and movies. Whenever I click on an episode from the guide it does exactly what it’s supposed to and the prompt pops up, but that’s not the case with my movie section. All of them are named properly according to the webpage explaining it as well. Any help would be appreciated!

Are you referring to an existing collection of movies you imported into Channels? Rather than movies that Channels recorded itself?

If that is the case, I wager the issue is that imported movies use TMDB for metadata, which doesn't exactly match the Gracenote data in the guide. (TV shows imported are using Gracenote for metadata, so they are the same for recordings and imports.)

This is an unfortunate fallout from the fact that we use (the better for movies indexer) tmdb for movie imports. Therefor their unique IDs don’t match with the Gracenote unique ID of the movie in the guide item.

Doing some kind of mapping has been on our long list, but it’s a hard one.

That would be such an amazing feature, so annoying starting to watch a movie that’s already almost over. I guess I can just search it, but I’m also lazy and it would make it very convenient.

Yep, that’s why we made the feature! But of course we sort of broke it. Works great for recordings though.

You could always re-match your movies with Gracenote.

How would I go about that? When I set it up I didn’t see an option to match them with Gracenote.

You don't. Presently imported movies are matched against TMDB, and TV shows against Gracenote. As it stands, there is no option to choose one versus another. This is a requested feature, and may be implemented in the future. But as of now, this is how it stands.

(Of course, this is just a guess as to the situation, as you haven't provided details or information about your setup that would confirm or deny things ...)

You definitely like to hear yourself type.

Sure you can.

Find the movie in your Channels DVR Server web admin, and choose Fix Incorrect Match. From that modal you can toggle between tmdb or Gracenote.

I have over 2,000 movies, I am not individually going in each one and doing that. I will wait and hopefully there will be an option to select all and rematch with gracenote.

I hear ya. :man_shrugging:t2:

Yea I saw that, but unfortunately I have too many movies and this would take me forever. Hopefully you guys add an option to select all and match with Gracenote. Thanks for the help! (Had to switch devices and forgot user/pass, that's the reason for different account.)

Yeah, I didn’t say it was a great solution lol.

Personally I don’t think that feature is worth re-matching all your movies with Gracenote anyways. Gracenote has terrible posters and metadata for movies. And a lot of the matches are weird. There’s a reason we added tmdb for movies.
