When I was browsing my library from my phone and selected "watch" on a program, I used to be presented with a choice of watching it on my TV or watching it on my phone. I'm not being given that choice any more and wish that I was. Has that choice been removed in more recent releases or is there a way I can get it back?
The app needs to be open on your tv streaming device to have the option.
There’s also a setting to turn the prompt off.
Ahhh - I can't seem to find that setting. I must've inadvertently turned it off.
Can anyone help me find that setting? My phone is Samsung Android and TV is Sony Bravia Android, if that is relevant.
Settings > Playback > Play To Your TV.
This is only available on the iOS and Android apps; it is not on tvOS or Android TV apps.
Hmmm - when I had came across that setting I was certain that it had to be the one. It was set to on, so I changed it to off and did a Force Stop on the app and re-opened it. It still didn't work, so I restarted the phone and the TV and it still didn't work. So next I changed the Play to TV setting back to "on" and after forcing the app to stop and opening it again i still couldnt get any of the library to play to the TV.
Could there be a setting in the WebUI that could be overriding this?
You do have the app open on the TV, too, right? If the app isn't running on the TV, the phone app can't tell the TV app to play the content.
And if you had a server-side setting to override this, you wouldn't be able to make any changes in the clients.
Yes - the Channels app is running on both the phone and the TV, but no love.
Bluetooth devices couldnt cause any issues, could they? My phone has numerous pairings within the home.
No, but the devices need to likely be in the same subnet.
Yes, everything in the house is on the same subnet, and all the settings I know about are set the way they should be. I just don't know why I used to get the choice and now I no longer do. Could there be some kind of "Never show this again" option I may have inadvertantly selected that is irreversible?
Please submit diagnostics from your phone app.
This also doesn't work on my phone anymore. Not sure if it happened after an Android security update, I don't use my phone Channels app very often.
Yeah no longer works on my phone or tablet either.
It would not surprise me if this is something that was affected by a Android update.
It's a bummer for me because the Sony Bravia TV Android interface isn't nearly as easy to navigate and find shows to watch as the phone or tablet, so I used to use my phone all the time for selecting shows to play on the TV and schedule recordings.
