Will Channels run on the above NAS? Will it transcode? In general, how will it work/not work?

It will work for recording up to a couple shows at a time. It can transcode one stream at a time. Commercial detection will take several hours. If you try to record, transcode and commercial detect at the same time, things will be slow and might fail.
