Is there a way that the UI on the web guide could be improved? For example:

  • some way to differentiate between re-runs and first-runs
  • programs that are scheduled to record, maybe the entire block is a different color that is easily identified instead of a tiny little target

Setting up all of a user's programming on a PC or Mac is far easier than trying to navigate this situation on some other form of client device.

New episodes have a blue left border in the guide. Recording status (queued/recording/already recorded) is shown by an icon prefixed to the program name in the guide.

Ah, I see the blue thing now, thanks. You know, I just scheduled a recording from the guide and I'll be darned if I can find it again looking through the guide, to see what you mean!

What about the type of recording, like whether it's a movie or news or sports ... is that represented somehow?

Movies have their release year in parentheses after the title in the guide. I don't believe there is anything differentiating sports from other types of programming.
