Web Player not working all of a sudden

Tried new and old transcoder settings, adaptive streaming is off. Player just sits there with "Transcoder ready"
This used to work fine - watch the same show from the same channel on weekends.

What's odd is that the only log message pertaining to this attempt was:

2022/03/13 08:32:49.455506 [HLS] Stopping transcoder session file3662-ip192.168.50.1

Is that watching Live or a recording?
I have it happen with recordings where I can wait until it's remuxed or transcoded the whole program and gets to "Transcoder ready" but doesn't start playing.
If I skip ahead 30 secs it starts playing and is good to go after that.

I never reported it because the workaround is easier.

Prerecorded. I haven’t tried live yet.

Live similarly broken. Guessing the MacOS transcoder up to something here...

a2e8ec6b-0c3b-4ec4-9479-a24e707b335f for the live run

Which browser

Chrome primarily, but tried Edge as well, no difference.

I haven't used my web player for a day or two but today I am seeing the same behavior. I'm on Windows, FWIW, tried Chrome and Firefox, both with adaptive streaming on (my usual setup) and off. I see remux running and fps shown at the bottom as it plays, but the show's "promo pic" stays there with the spinner going to town over it....

Oh yeah, restarting the server didn't fix it, nor has trying in incognito mode to cut addons out of the equation.

Seeing the same thing here both on Edge and Firefox. I was wondering if it was a Windows update or a Channels update that's causing it. Windows 11 build 22000.556 here.

Do any of the keyboard shortcut keys work for any of you?

Pause/Play - SPACE
Skip forward - RIGHT ARROW
Skip backward - LEFT ARROW
Volume up - UP ARROW
Volume down - DOWN ARROW
Mute - M
Full screen - F

All the controls appear to work, but the video never plays. On live TV, I can see the transcoder is running but the actual video window is just the spinning circle over the background art. On pre-recorded video, it says 'Transcoder Ready' with just the spinning circle and background art.

If I go to the DVR server page on my iPhone, video works. It also works using the Channels app. I tried using the Channels Android app in Windows Subsystem for Android...video works there too although the app continually crashes...though I expect that's a separate issue.

I don't know what's up then.
Whenever it gets stuck for me, I can "unstick" it by skipping forward and/or backward.
Now that they added the play in vlc integration, I use that instead.

Play in VLC doesn't work for me either. That's why I'm wondering if it's a Windows update that's causing the trouble. Unfortunately I'm on holiday at the moment and don't have another computer to test on.

Could be Windows.
Works for me using these browsers on Windows 10 Pro 20H2 19042.1586
Firefox 98.0.1 (64-bit)
Brave 1.36.112 Chromium: 99.0.4844.51 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Edge 99.0.1150.39 (Official build) (64-bit)

Windows 11 has caused me no end of headaches

Check JS console for any errors

The only thing that scares me more than Windows 11 is Covid-19.
I try to avoid both of them :grinning:

I'm having the same issues on both of my computers. One is a windows 10 desktop:
Windows 10 Pro
Version 21H1
OS build 19043.1586
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4170.0

The other is a Windows 11 Surface Pro with the latest updates. I noticed this happening last night.

Channels DVR is running 2022.03.14.2329 on a Windows 10 PC.

Don't think that's it, I'm on the same Experience version
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4170.0

My guess would be the build since last Tuesday was the monthly Windows updates day.
Second Tuesday of each month.

Video playback now starting with latest beta (2022.03.15.2130) but stopping and buffering every few seconds...still not watchable. Play in VLC still not working at all for me.

EDIT: More stable playback in Firefox vs Edge.
