Web UI: "Enable Remote Access" NOT Working

Finally, switched our production DVR to Qnap 251A. The transition went very smoothly due to Channels easy steps to assign new recording directory and database change.

Now, I am using an 8TB USB3 attached to Qnap for recordings.

However, I have not been able to “tick” Enable Remote Access on the Web UI. I’ve tried on both Safari and Chrome. It’s almost like there is no underlying capability to tick that box.

What am I missing?

Do you have UPNP disabled on your firewall/router?

Can you manually setup port forwarding on the router? That works with ior without this checkbox.

If it’s “disabled”, there may be some detection on it.

Not disabled

Do have manual port forwarding with new IP set in router (also had it setup before with original IP - and was able to tick this box)

Just worried that when I do go offsite, it won’t work…no way for me to test as cellular signal doesn’t work at home.

I have never ticked that checkbox and use remote access all the time. I would rather do it myself than have the DVR software constantly updating my router settings. You just need to forward the port your DVR is listening on.

Thanks all

I was able to test tonight…connected fine.

Mine (on Debian mini PC) allows me to check this box and it says it’s listening on my WAN address. However the iOS Channels times out trying to log in. Everything works fine regardless of whether this box is checked or not if I just use a reserved IP address for the PC and port forwarding on my router.

This is redundant if you already did a port forward, as this just does the same thing with upnp. Just leave it unchecked.

As far as the timeout, have you tried using the web viewer to see if it plays properly?
