Weird TVE question

Situation:

My FS2 on cable is an IPTV channel, so it's not available via HDHomeRun Prime, but I can use the channels app and Comcast TVE to access the channel (YAY!!!!)

Last Saturday, a college football game ran long, so the start of the next game was moved over to FS2. I thought, cool, let me use the channels app and dial up FS2 and see the start of the game. Weirdly, the event that was originally scheduled was still on there (some soccer match) - and FS2 via TVE never showed any of the college football.

I used one of my cable boxes, dialed in FS2 - and the football game was on......, but not via TVE/Channels.

For the screen I was utilizing (no cable box connected to it) - I was able to access that game via the Fox sports app..... but it got me wondering....

Do TVE streams not get switched around the same was the linear cable channels do? If this something controlled at Fox/Network, or would it be something more related to my local cable provider locally??

Now that I know, I'll always just bounce over to the Fox Sports app (or Fox one) - but am kind of curious as to the behind the scenes of why it is that way.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

TVE streams come from the networks' websites so they are fully controlled by them. Your cable provider has no input on the content of the streams.

When you use the streaming app for the specified service (Fox, etc.) the stream that you get is not from the website. That doesn't mean that the content is not the same as the TVE stream but it's a different source.

Same thing with your cable box, different source than TVE.
