I just setup Channels Plus and added my Cox subscription. My tv was on in the family on HGTV. I started viewing the same station on Channels and it was playing a different program. I know many cable networks run different feeds for east and west coast. It appeared my Channels station was ahead of my cable box? Any insight to this? Seems I should get the same feed being in the same city. It will mess with me know what time shows are on.
The TVE feeds for Discovery networks are all Eastern feeds.
I figured. I just didn’t know if there was more than west and east coast feeds. Are many other networks that way on TVE? I know when I go to the gym they use Direct TV and the Discovery networks are East too.
In my experience, this is how they break down:
- ViacomCBS – Eastern or Pacific depending upon your location (except for Paramount, which seems to only authenticate for Eastern)
- WarnerMedia – Eastern and Pacific
- A+E Networks – Eastern only
- NBCUniversal – Eastern or Pacific
- Disney (including ESPN, FX Networks, and National Geographic) – Eastern and Pacific (except for ESPN, which is Eastern only, and some RSNs based upon location)
- AMC Networks – Eastern only
- Crown Media – Eastern only
- Hubbard Media – Eastern only
- Discovery Networks – Eastern only
- Fox News – Eastern
- Fox Sports/Sinclair – Eastern for the primary networks, RSNs vary by location
Thank you for the details. Pretty much all over the board. I’d get used to it. If I go with Channels I probably won’t keep Cox anyway I will likely go with Sling and Locast. My point is to get rid of the majority of my $260 monthly cable/internet bill. I’m just having a hard time giving up my Tivo Dvr. Just haven’t found a system that has as good of UI. But Channels seems closest.
Sling has very poor TV Everywhere support. Your best bet for a larger selection in my experience is Fubo, for $65/mo.
I’ve read that about Sling. Not familiar with fubo. I’ll need to see if they have the channels I want. I just liked the price of Sling. But I know I would not be happy with the dvr built in with Sling. So if it doesn’t work well with TVE that won’t be a good option.
Fubo won't work for us. No TNT, CW..basically no Warner Media stations. Otherwise it looked great. Are there other steamers that work well with TVE?
It is nearly impossible to get WarnerMedia stations via TV Everywhere. The only non-cable/satellite provider that offers Warner stations via TVE is T-Mobile’s TVision service, which is: only available to post-paid T-Mobile/Sprint wireless customers; and, has myriad authentication problems getting it to even work with Channels.
Also, The CW has no TV Everywhere support; but, if your local affiliate has it and you’re in a Locast-supported DMA, that is an option.
Yes Locast Phoenix has The CW. I didn’t know that about Warner Media stations. I thought You Tube has them but could be wrong. And You Tube won’t really save me much. This is why I’m having a hard time cutting the cord. I pay $$ for it but the convenience of everything thing in one place with Cox cable and then my Tivo has Netflix, Prime, Hulu, Vudu, Cox on Demand, Pluto, Tubi and a few others I use. No fees for that box. No input switching and integrated searches is great. But Tivo legacy is outdated platform and will likely never get additional apps. So if I ever get HBO, Paramount or Peacock I’d need to switch inputs to use my Apple TV or Roku. I have some decisions to make!
