What Happened to the Cooking Channel (6109)?

I use Vidgo streaming service, and the Cooking Channel has always been listed as one of the TVE channels, and authorized to view via my Vidgo login using the Channels DVR.

This morning my wife went to watch the channel and she got the 'Not Authorized' message. In the past when that has happened (for other channels), I've gone out to the Channels DVR setup on my server, removed Vidgo as a source, then added it back. This time after doing that, the 'Cooking' channel is gone.

If I try to access the 'Cooking' channel via the Vidgo app (Fire TV) it is there and plays fine. If I look up the list of TVE channels on the Channels Community site, it is listed as part of the Discovery channels, and as "6109 Cooking Channel (COOKING-CHANNEL)"

Anyone know what happened to it and if it is going to be added back?

First question: does it play from the website? (Not the Cooking Channel app, not the Vidgo app, but the Cooking Channel website.) Channels gets its TVE feeds directly from the websites, and that is the first place to check to narrow down the source of problems.

If I go to the 'Cooking Channel' site (https://watch.cookingchanneltv.com/) and log into the site using my Vidgo app login, I get the message "This content is available to viewers who receive Cooking Channel as part of their pay TV subscription".

I'm checking with Vidgo to see why I'm not able to view to content from the online site (accepts my login ID) but I can via the Vidgo Fire TV app.. Either way, it doesn't explain why the channel is no longer listed in the TVE list of channels. Other channels I don't get from Vidgo are there, why not the 'Cooking Channel?

This implies the problem is on Vidgo's end, and their authentication system.

Once a channel fails to authenticate, it is hidden. In the DVR web UI, you can open the source to Manage it, then click the Edit button up top, and then the hidden TVE channels will be seen. After that, to the right of the problem channel is a drop-down menu with an option to Re-scan that channel.

However, if you can't authenticate on the website, chances are re-authenticating within Channels will fail, too. You likely won't get Channels to work until you can successfully get your login working on the network's website.

Thanks. I've opened a trouble ticket with Vidgo.

Is anyone else having a problem with the 'Cooking Channel'?

No issues here. (And as part of just trying to test the feed, Channels had to re-authorize the network. So, not only is Cooking Channel streaming fine through Channels, but authentication works without issues, too.)

I've been having odd problems with Vidgo so I'm in the process of dropping Vidgo for the $10 a month T-Mobile discount for Philo. Only channels I'm missing will be the Fox News channels (my wife watches a lot) and the ESPN channels which we occasionally watch.

Any cheap recommendations for the Fox News and Business channels?

Vidgo support is wildly unhelpful. Sling is the next best thing price wise if you want fox & espn lineups. However their TVE support is lacking. Truthfully, Vidgo's channel lineup for the price is a great value, plus their TVE support is great.

The downside is, their apps suck, support sucks, & they have random glitches a lot. Although some of those glitches can be exploited. The billing system isn't well built to put it bluntly.
