Why does channel-number blow up my epg mapping?

I have an m3u and epg file. the top line doesn't map but the bottom one does

#EXTINF:-1 group-title="Locals" channel-number="2" tvg-group="Locals" tvg-id="ABC 2 WKRN NASHVILLE" tvg-logo="url" tvg-name=".."

#EXTINF:-1 group-title="Locals" tvg-group="Locals" tvg-id="ABC 2 WKRN NASHVILLE" tvg-logo="url" tvg-name=".."

The only difference is channel-number being missing.

you need a unique channel-id set per entry

is that the CUID field?

ok, appreciate the link. however, in my m3u I have a CUID and it doesn't work. My m3u looks like this:

#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="1" channel-number="1" CUID ="1734" group-title="Locals" tvg-chno="1" tvg-group="Locals" tvg-id="...tvg-id.." tvg-logo="..logo.." tvg-name="..name.."

channel-id is unique

I don't know what CUID is

The channel-id is used to remember the epg mappings
