Why doesn't this channel mapping come in already mapped?

Here is a relevant snippet of my m3u and my xml. It doesn't come in auto mapped. I have to got into source settings and set the mapping.

#EXTINF:-1 tvg-id="50" tvg-name="A&E" tvg-chno="50" tvc-guide-stationid="10035" group-title="Entertainment",A&E

my xml file has. channel id="50"

Here's an example from Samsung TV Plus that works
Note tvg-id="USBA370000104" in the m3u playlist
and channel="USBA370000104" in the XML <programme>

#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="samsung-USBA370000104" tvg-id="USBA370000104" tvg-logo="https://tvpnlogopus.samsungcloud.tv/platform/image/sourcelogo/vc/00/02/34/USBA370000104_20241112T000842SQUARE.png" group-title="News & Opinion" tvg-chno="1110",CBS News 24/7
  <channel id="USBA370000104">

And Frndly TV
Note tvg-id="frndly-38" in the m3u playlist
and channel="frndly-38" in the XML <programme>

#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="frndly-38" tvg-id="frndly-38" tvg-logo="https://d229kpbsb5jevy.cloudfront.net/frndlytv/400/400/content/common/logos/channel/logos/vyoird.png",Dove
    <channel id="frndly-38">
        <display-name>Dove</display-name>
    </channel>
    <programme channel="frndly-38" start="20250926010000 +0000" stop="20250926020000 +0000">
        <title>McLeod's Daughters</title>
    </programme>

Yeah, I basically have that. my m3u has. tvg-id="50" and my EPG has channel id="50". But it will not a automatch. Seems broken.

Channel-id is required.

<channel id="50" ... /channel> means id="50"
Not the same as <programme channel="50" ... /programme> which means channel="50"

tvg-id in your m3u playlist needs to matchup with the <programme> channel in your XML

If you have a station mapping then you don't need to provide XMLTV at all.

Or you can refer to the XMLTV Format DTD (Document Type Definition)
http://wiki.xmltv.org/index.php/XMLTVFormat

Thanks everyone!

As Bobby Vaughn said, channel-id is required in the m3u playlist.
As tmm1 said, if you have a valid tvc-guide-stationid in your m3u playlist, that will provide guide data, UNLESS you also supply an XMLTV epg, which over rules the tvc-guide-stationid in the m3u playlist.
