I have restrictions on my ATV4 set to 12+ so that my kids aren’t watching HBO and such without permission. Why is this app rated 17+? It seems that is too mature – any chance it can be modified to something more reasonable? Plex, for example, is 4+ (which may be too low) but Channels is definitely not an adult app.

The app store guidelines are very strict… since you can technically access any kind of content via the app (including any cable channel if you have a PRIME), it falls under the “open web access” category.
We can try to lower it for the next release and see what Apple says.
Thanks, appreciate the clarification. Might be some wiggle room there, again, given that Plex is 4+. Maybe a work-around to satisfy Apple would be to build the option within the app to require a PIN – that way, the individual user can enable or disable that function instead of being restricted to the app store age rating? Just an idea and thinking maybe that’s how Plex gets away with it.
