Will the Channels DVR support other frontends?

As the title says, Will Channels DVR support other frontends such as Kodi? or will it atleast be open enough that people could develop a Kodi plugin for it?

We do have an ATV4 in the living room, and we could probably swing another for the bedroom, but it would be way too expensive for us to buy an ATV for every single place in the house that we might watch TV. It would be great to be able to use Channels DVR with the Channels apps on the main TVs but still be able to use Channels DVR with Kodi on some of our other TVs. Not only that but not being completely locked into one ecosystem is always nice, isn’t that part of the reason you guys are developing this in the first place?

We would definitely like to support other low-cost devices like the Roku and Chrome Cast. The API will be available for use if others want to implement their own frontends, with the caveat that it might be unstable as we will changing it often to add new features.

Awesome this is great news, and has made me that much more excited for channels DVR. Of course my primary devices are apple, especially my shiny new Apple TV. However knowing that I wont be locked in, and I can use other devices as well when the need arises is comforting.

I wonder how long until someone makes a Kodi plug-in? it doesn’t take the people of that community long, my hats off to the first person to do it. I wish I knew enough about coding to do it myself.

I would guess the files would be stored on the NAS in like an mp4 or something? If so I would assume we could also use Plex as a front end for already recorded content assuming the file is named appropriately…
