Where did I say it's running 24x7?
At 24x7 the box used $12 electricity per month 2 years ago when I hooked it up to a Kill-a-Watt. For the 8-9 hours per week of recording and watching I do I'd have to be crazy to run it 24/7.
I save $8-$10 per month in electricity, more than the subscription costs me.
Did you ever find a solution?
I gave up long ago. May tinker with it again the next time I do a clean install of the OS.
Did so much tinkering today and still couldn't figure it out. Have been experimenting with feeding it to mythtv as an alternative. Doing the same with nextpvr. Computer is a water-cooled overclocked beast of a gamer man. Cant afford to leave it on. Have a Mac mini but hard drive is too small. In windows nexpvr is quite good with sleeping and waking up to record and going back to sleep.
