Wish list

Hello! I've been using Channels for all my household television for a while now. I'm a big fan so I figured I'd add my wishlist. I know some have been mentioned but for what it's worth, these things would make my experience that much better.

  1. For live TV if all tuners are being used, it would be really helpful if Channels would use another source for the same channel. I have an SD cablecard tuner. If all three tuners are being used, it would be great if it just used a TVe channel if available. I know it will do that for recorded TV, but I constantly run out of tuners when trying to watch something live.

  2. It would be helpful to have an option to set a source priority for individual passes. Some channels would be helpful to record from TVe and others from cable.

  3. Customizable channel numbers. I know that one is mentioned a lot so I don't mean to beat a dead horse. Just adding my +1. An automatic system would work for me, if it just numbered my Channel Collection in the order I put them in.

Thank you for the great product.

If the sources/guide data is stacked, it will already do this. If this is not working for you, then presumably your OTA guide data does not match your TVE guide data/sources. This is not a Channels fault, but rather an input fault.

You can specify specific channels for passes. (However, you cannot specify a hierarchy/cascade for them; to do this, you need to creatively stack your favorites and priorities. For most users, this probably covers 90%+ of their needs.)

For Custom Channels or other M3U playlist sourced lists, they can specify their own channel numbers. If you wish to DIY, there are MANY posts about workarounds for remapping channel numbers. (Yes, it requires you to do some work, but if the result is really important to you, then the work should be non-trivial.)

I would like to see Natvie support for the more popular streaming services through partnerships.
Channels would be able to survive and more folks would get to enjoy a real DVR that functions properly most of the time.

Are you going to put forth the massive amounts of money needed to lobby the giant media conglomerates to allow their valuable IP be accessible to a small app with a negligible presence (in their eyes)?

(To further the "pie-in-the-sky" approach of this, not even Netflix has full integration with Apple products. Further, Channels is not whitelisted on Amazon or Google for inclusion with their Live TV interfaces ...)

Thank you for the response. Stacking channels does not work well for me. It's not the "fault" of the input as that's not really something it was meant to do. The biggest benefit of Channels for me is being able to add multiple sources under one guide. Some more granular control would be helpful.

I agree that not everyone needs to be able to set channel priority for passes. In my usage I would find it helpful and I'm sure others would also. Again, more control is not a bad thing.

I am aware of the work around using M3U lists. It's not something I'm interested in messing with right now. I think that functionality would be a great addition to Channels.

A wish list is not shitting on the product in any way. We all use Channels in a slightly different way. These are just some features would make it work even better for me.
