Is there a workaround for iOS support until the iOS Channels app is ready?
That is, can you extract the video files that Channels DVR recorded, run them through Handbrake, and import them into iTunes or something like that?
You can use the web ui from iOS safari to watch recordings
Workaround is to use WebUI on IOS device. WebUI has all the features available through AppleTV so you can schedule, manage and watch recordings. Be aware that your ability to watch recordings through the webui will be impacted by the processing power of your server as your server has to transcode recordings on the fly for browser display. I have a 2012-2013 i7 mac mini and transcode to 720p for browser display with good results.
Yes. The recordings are just normal unprotected files on your disk. You’re free to do anything with them. But note that if you change their format or filename, they will not work in Channels DVR anymore.
