Write API for Shield TV Network Mounted Drive?

So I am quickly learning that my plan of purchasing a Shield TV Pro and connecting to my NAS for storage will not work. After trial and error and a lot of Googling, I learned that an app must have specific approval to use the write API of the Shield TV OS. Plex apparently has this ability. Is Channels DVR going to get this? Am I missing something? Please let me know.

Nvidia has granted us this ability but the new version of SHIELD EXPERIENCE with it has not yet been released.

Oh cool!! Any idea on timeline maybe? Days, weeks, or months? Wondering if I should hold off on buying a USB drive, and just hold out with my current setup..
